You’ll work in a small, empowered team where your technical decisions matter. This role is a mix of building new features, refactoring legacy code, collaborating cross-functionally, and shaping the future of our Android platform. Areas of ownership: Drive the migration from Java to a modern Kotlin + Compose stack Refactor code that slows us down and proactively pay down tech debt Build and modernize Android features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose Contribute to architecture decisions (MVVM/MVI, Coroutines, platform improvements) Collaborate closely with iOS, Web, Product, Design, and QA to ship the right solutions Improve tooling, testing practices, and CI/CD where needed Maintain and improve the overall health of the Android platform Requirements: You are an excellent communicator and collaborator. We work in English, but you will hear many languages in our Stockholm office 5+ years of experience building Android applications Strong knowledge of Kotlin (and solid Java understanding) Experience with modern Android architecture (Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, MVVM/MVI) Proven ability to work independently and ship high-quality code You care about the code you leave behind — you ship features without cutting corners You prefer simple, pragmatic solutions over clever complexity Experience migrating legacy Android codebases to modern stacks Experience with mobile CI/CD, testing, or DevOps practices is a plus It's a plus with experience with collaborating across platforms (iOS/Web) Why Rebtel? Senior Android Engineer - Mobile Experience
HQI 90
Stockholm HQ Remote1d ago
Join our global force of 400+ innovators, blending the latest in tech with the greatest in soundtracking, from our Stockholm HQ to offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Oslo, and Seoul. We’re an industry leader with a startup mentality. We take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Creating and collaborating to transform the sound of streaming, content, and culture. Come join us, and let the world feel your work We're looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join Mobile Experience, the team behind the Epidemic Sound app. Picture a creator on the metro who hears a song and needs the right track for the video they're editing, right now. That's who we build for. Our mobile users are mostly influencers and creators who work from their phones, and we build for how they use mobile, not to match what the web product does. Why you'll love this team - A small, cohesive team of seniors. Four engineers, two on Android and two on iOS. We keep process light, with retros and some refinement, and run the rest on trust and autonomy. - We set our own direction. There's no fixed roadmap. We decide together what's worth building and spend our time on what creators will enjoy, like making it effortless to find the right track for a video or turn a track into a shorter edit. - A high bar for quality. The app is mature, modular and has very little legacy, because senior engineers have looked after it the whole way. We keep it that way, so we spend our time building rather than paying down tech debt. - Capable, low-ego colleagues. Strong opinions, loosely held. The best idea wins, whoever it comes from, we pair now and then and share what we learn openly. - Music is fun. You get to build a product around one of the best things in the world, with colleagues who love it as much as you do. Your key responsibilities include - Own features end-to-end: spot opportunities, prototype fast, take the best ideas to production, then measure the impact and iterate. - Build polished, custom UI in Jetpack Compose and sweat the details of look and feel, from waveforms to our design system components. - Work on music and playback, the most technically demanding part of the app. - Keep the app healthy for the long haul: architecture, performance, accessibility, OS updates, API deprecations and releases. - Pitch in on our Kotlin backend-for-frontend, CI and developer tooling when the need arises. - Use AI agents as a natural part of how you work with code and everything around it, and help the team find new ways to apply them. - Share what you know through code review, pairing and clear writing. Requirements - 6+ years of professional Android development in Kotlin. - Deep experience with Jetpack Compose, especially building complex, custom UI, and a good eye for design and polish. - Solid command of Kotlin coroutines and Flow. - Apps you've shipped and kept alive in production for years, including platform changes and API deprecations handled without breaking things for users. - The ability to not only understand but also explain complex topics such as performance, accessibility and architecture. - Hands-on experience with agentic engineering, using AI agents as a tool for working with code and everything around it, and ownership of the quality of what they produce. - Initiative. Nobody will hand you tickets, so you need to be happy finding what needs doing and doing it. It would also be music to our ears if you have - Experience with audio and playback, ideally Media3 / ExoPlayer. - Experience with Gradle and large, multi-module codebases. - End-to-end ownership of shipped features, from deciding what to build through implementation, release, measurement and iteration. - Worked with design systems. - Built and maintained continuous integration (CI) workflows. - Experience with Kotlin on the server in a production environment; we maintain our own backend-for-frontend. - UX design experience in Figma or similar. Our tech stack Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, coroutines and Flow, Hilt, Media3 / ExoPlayer, Room and DataStore, Retrofit and OkHttp, Gradle with version catalogs, custom Android lint checks, and GitHub Actions. Equal opportunity employer We believe that bringing people together from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives makes for a healthy workplace, a more successful business and a better world. We value diversity and encourage everyone to come and soundtrack the world with us. Application Ready to make the world feel your work? Please apply, in English.

Android development plays a central role in how operators interact with vehicles and machines here at CPAC Systems. Depending on the team and project, you will work with HMIs and Android applications within one of our areas – from solutions used onboard boats in our marine segment to applications for construction equipment and other industrial systems. You will work close to both hardware and end users, developing Android-based solutions that improve productivity, usability and safety. The environments are demanding, and performance, clarity and reliability matter. In some applications, smart software contributes to productivity gains of up to 30 percent. What you will do Own the development of Android-based HMI applications from idea to deployment Design and implement solutions using Kotlin and Java in close collaboration with UX, system and hardware engineers Work with communication layers such as REST, WebSockets and gRPC, as well as vehicle interfaces like CAN Collaborate directly with customers to understand real operational needs and translate them into technical solutions Contribute to architecture, code quality, performance and long-term maintainability Who are you? You enjoy building software that connects the digital and physical world, whether it is used onboard a boat, in construction equipment or in other advanced systems. You are curious about how the full system works, take responsibility for what you build and care about creating reliable, well-designed software. We are looking for someone at the beginning of their career, with 0–5 years of relevant experience. You may already have experience in Android development, or you may be a recent graduate with a strong programming background and a clear interest in growing within the Android field. We believe you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a relevant engineering field, and experience or a strong foundation in areas such as: Android application development Kotlin and Java SQL and databases Linux-based development environments Network communication over HTTP, REST, WebSockets or gRPC CAN or other communication interfaces You are curious, eager to learn and enjoy sharing knowledge and solving problems together with your team. Why CPAC Systems? Advanced engineering You work with complex systems in marine and industrial applications where software quality directly affects usability and performance. Everything under one roof What makes us unique is how much of the product development we own ourselves. Under the same roof, we develop the software and design the hardware and electronics. Apart from the actual production, we cover the full journey from idea to finished product. This creates a truly project-driven engineering environment where you work close to the entire product and the people behind it. Clear ownership You influence technical decisions and see your work move from concept into real products. Better together, closer to the product We believe the best collaboration happens when we are close to each other – and to the hardware we are developing for. That is why most of our work is done from the office, with the possibility to work remotely one day per week. Being onsite also means you do not miss out on our weekly fika, breakfasts, seminars and shared training sessions during working hours. About CPAC Systems CPAC Systems develops advanced control systems for marine and industrial applications. Since 1999, we’ve been turning complex operations into intuitive experiences. With 250 employees, a portfolio of +80 patents and more than 500,000 delivered products per year, we drive innovation in everything from electrification to intelligent automation. As part of Volvo Group, our role is to lead advanced technology development and explore the next generation of smart control systems. How to apply If you want to build Android applications that are used every day in demanding environments, we would like to hear from you.
