Five-D Limited is a 100% employee-owned, multi-discipline engineering consultancy based in the sunny coastal city of New Plymouth, Taranaki. From our CBD office (just a short walk to the coastal walkway), we deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions across New Zealand’s critical industries.
Over the past few years, Five-D has experienced significant growth, building a strong reputation, expanding our client base, and developing a solid forward workload. As we continue this momentum, we are looking for an experienced Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our high-performing team.
About the Role
This is a lead position where you will be managing the delivery of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) engineering solutions and work products in accordance with project, client and regulatory requirements. You will provide technical leadership across a range of projects, support the development of engineers and designers, and work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, practical and innovative engineering outcomes.
The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Team provides excellence in delivering project services. A team of specialists responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Safety Systems engineering, analysis and design, calculations and work products, resolving challenges and complex problems, and adding value to our clients. This division provides expertise and services in accordance with the following functions:
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Control & Safety Systems Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical & Instrumentation Design

About You
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Instrument or Controls Engineering or equivalent;
- 10+ years’ experience in the industry as an Engineer;
- Site experience in Electrical, Instrument and Control engineering is preferred (assets being constructed, commissioned and maintained)
- Professional membership or eligibility to join.
- Extensive understanding of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control engineering principles, methods and techniques;
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating confidence to lead others, teamwork, innovation and excellence;
- Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands;
- Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Full NZ drivers license
